More Toys

I have mentioned that one of the perks of the job is getting to buy fun toys at regular intervals. Here's one I picked up this weekend. I love the little squirrels doing their thing. I like that the elements are raised, so when children count the nuts, they can also feel them. Perhaps the part I like best, tactile woman that I am, is the fact that the pieces feel nice - see how soft and flexible they are?

Oh, and the kids like it, too!

We had loads of jigsaw puzzles when mstr A was little. i love the look of them, the idea of them, the educational aspect of them, and the fact that any child can use them.

5 years on I HATE wooden jigsaw puzzles. The little *****ers never put them together properly, I find the pieces all over the house, but never all the pieces, they REALLY hurt when you step on them, they don't wash well when dipped in cereal. I've just chucked all ours out in the pre-Xmas clear out.

Your nice rubbery ones look less painful & more washable, but they will still get into the strangest places:-)

MrsA: You've just made me realize something wonderful. I've always seen myself as woefully disorganized, and a middlin' housekeeper at best, and yet...oh, the wonderfulness...I have dozens of puzzles, all of which have been used in the daycare for years, and they all have all their pieces!!! Except for the one or two that was gotten used and already missing a piece.

I am in awe at myself, I swear I am.

mim: What's not to like? They even smell nice!

Haley: Baby Nigel thinks so. (Awww... so cute!)
Arthur thinks so, too.
(Not so cute.)

Mary, surely the Missing Jigsaw Piece Fairy visits you as well, she comes in teh dead of night and steals 1 piece from every jigsaw you own...

Andie: Oh, a new commenter!! Welcome! (And love your blog, BTW.)

Sadly, the store I went to is an Ottawa phenomenon only. However, a quick Google search reveals that the company, Mindgear, retails online through Mastermind.
Hope that helps!

Aginoth: Umm, no. Astonishing as it truly is, the fairy has completely missed our house for at least ten years now.

However, I think you might consider buying a few of these puzzles. Not only are they soft (they won't hurt when you step on them) and entirely washable (for those cereal-dunked moments), but the company offers a piece-replacement service!!

These toys were MADE for a busy house. :-)

My nephews would love those...unfortunately their mother and I are both terrfied of squirels (evil little things! I swear they're out to kill me) so those are not an option.

I wonder if they have non-evil options?

You said "little squirrels doing their thing" and "nuts" in the same post.... how can it be I am the first one to point that out?

Should I go on? "Tactile woman" and "see how soft and flexible they are?" When did my mind get so naughty? When did your writing get so suggestive? I can't stop giggling now.....

OMG what a sensible idea! I love it - I'm off to find a UK retailer right now!
